A Merry Broyles Christmas

We had the Broyles Christmas at our house this year. It was so fun having Gram and Papa, Uncle Nic, and Uncle Doug and his family here. We ate, played games, acted silly, and opened presents.

Daddy helped you open some of your presents. You got lots of great things to play with. A lot of them make noise. Thanks everyone!

You had fun playing with Cousin Stone.

He got a play drill for Christmas. He was helping everyone fix things...including their toes.

He also got a tractor. He wasn't really sure he wanted to share with you. He decided it was okay.

When Uncle Doug and his family were leaving Cousin Hunter started playing with you and growling. You started growling very loudly back at him. You were grabbing his hair and ears. Gram was holding you and said you were shaking! You don't do this with anyone else. It was kinda funny, but we decided you shouldn't do it anymore because of how worked up you were getting.

Ryan's First Christmas

Well, Ryan. I guess you were just so excited about Christmas day that you decided to wake up at 5am. Unfortunately that's becoming a bit of a trend lately. We'll have to work on that. Daddy finally fed you around 6am and put you back to bed. You woke back up around 9am and it was time to open presents! You have been such a blessing to us this year, Ryan. Words cannot express the love we have for you and how thankful we are that God put you in our lives. We know that you are going to bless the lives of so many people. You're our little miracle, and we know God has great things planned for you! Merry Christmas, Baby.

A Merry Brookman Christmas

Ryan, your first Christmas was so much fun. You were spoiled, of course, but who can resist. You were such a good boy the whole time we were at Grandma and Pops' house.

You watched Daddy, Uncle Phil, Cousin Logan, and Great-Granddad play dominoes. They play every year with the same partners. Daddy said he usually loses to Uncle Phil and Great-Granddad.

Christmas lunch

We were hoping again that you would start crawling. But, you're perfectly content with "army crawling."

You loved all the toys your got for Christmas. Pops got you a baseball toy to play with. I think you might have been more interested in the bows and wrapping paper.

Here you are in your Christmas morning PJs.

We went to downtown Oklahoma City to the Crystal Bridge. (That's where Daddy asked Mommy to marry him.) All of the lights were so pretty. We saw lots of plants that were pretty too.

In the end, you were super duper tired. Pops gave you a bottle and you fell asleep right in his arms.

"It's my first Christmas!"

Presents for Grandparents

Ryan, you made Christmas presents for your grandparents this year. Grandma and Grandpa Broyles got aprons. Grandma Brookman got a bag, and Pops got a photo. My first idea was to use your cute little hand as the body of the giraffe, but you didn't want to open up that cute little hand of yours. So we used your foot...

...and this is what they looked like at the end of the experiment. FYI, only one foot was used to paint the bag and aprons. You must have liked the feeling of rubbing your feet together with paint all over them. You also thought the bottom of your high chair tray needed to be a different color, because it was covered too. It all came off.

For Pops (and Great-Granddad) we took a picture (at Thanksgiving) of all four generations of hands. You didn't really want to open you hand for that either. This was the best picture we got. We thought Psalm 103:17 was the perfect verse to put with it.
Everyone really liked their presents especially because they were homemade from you.

Santa Comes to Church

Blackmale

This is your new favorite thing to do while on the changing table. It was just too cute to resist. Plus I can use it for blackmale when I first meet your future wife. I love you!

I like to eat, eat, eat...

...anything you give me!

This is your first time eating spinach, and you gobbled it up. Who knew pureed spinach could be so yummy? You've had lots of other things since you began eating solid foods. Here's a list of most of them...

carrots
sweet potatoes
bananas
apples
pears
strawberries
squash
green beans
sweet peas
broccoli
mango
spinach

and a partridge in a pear tree!

A Visit to Santa

Ryan, you went to see Santa for the first time. We went to Bass Pro Shop because it was free. A lot of our friends have gone there and told us about it. Santa was so nice and they let us take pictures with our own camera. You did so good and didn't mind sitting in his lap at all.

Our Christmas Tree

Christmas Card Pictures

Now that Christmas cards are out, here are the pics we didn't choose. As you can see...it was very hard to choose which pictures to use. Than you, Amy, for taking these great pics!

Daddy's so Funny

Daddy thought it would be funny to put you in your toy box. You just sat there and chewed on your toys.

Big Boy Bath

Ryan, you just got too big for your other bath tub, so we got you a new one. At first you would cry when we put you in it. I guess because you weren't used to sitting up in the tub. You like it now, though. You like playing with your rubber ducky while you take a bath.

First Friend's Birthday Party

We went to your friend, Sam's birthday party. He turned one year old. You had a lot of fun. I know you and Sam will be best friends forever.

True Love

I love how he loves you.

Fun Videos

Here are some fun videos. Sorry they're kinda dark. (You have to pause the music at the bottom in order to hear videos.)

Having fun with Daddy.

Wounded army soldier crawl. This is all we got now. We're working on it.

Starting to babble. No this does not count as his first word. :)

"My Daddy's so funny."

Stomach Bug Blues

Oh Ryan. You got your first stomach bug last week. We all had it and it was not fun at all. Mommy and Daddy just had it for one day, but you had it for three days. It was so sad. You stopped wanting to eat. I could always tell when you were about to vomit. You would get a very sad face and kinda make a noise with your mouth. Somehow you always managed to vomit either on me or the floor. Never on Daddy and mostly on me. That's okay, though. I knew I was a true mommy when I let you throw up on me many, many times. The only good thing about the whole three days was that you were more cuddly than you've ever been. You would sit in my lap and cuddle up with me almost all day long. By the third day you were only having one wet diaper, so I took you to the doctor. She said you were slightly dehydrated, but not to bad. She gave you some medicine to help you not be naucious and throw up so much. It helped a lot and very quickly. The doctor also told us to give you unflavored Pedialyte, but add grape cool-aid. You liked it a lot. It didn't take long at all for you to get better after that. Even though you felt better, it has taken a while for you to eat much again. You're getting back to normal. Now you have a bit of a cold. Your nose is pretty congested. It makes it hard to take a bottle since you can't breath through your nose.

The morning after we tried the grape pedialyte I changed your diaper and found this. This picture doesn't show it very well, but your diaper was the prettiest color of blue, and boy was it full.
I'm so glad you're feeling better.
